Just in time for the Christmas season, you can expect a 20,000 sq. ft. American Girl Store to open at the Natick Collection in Natick, Mass., in November 2008. With stores in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago -- and with boutiques in Atlanta and Dallas -- Boston area fans of these exceptionally well-made dolls will surely delight in having their own local American Girl Store. With roots going back to 1983, Mattel, Inc., eventually bought the American Girl Line in 1998, in which the product line features historical 18-inch dolls representing girls nine and 10-years old that come with books and accessories, according to Wikipedia. Since 1986, "14 million American Girl dolls have been purchased, as well as 123 million copies of books about their adventures," states Wikipedia. Several movies have been released, also, including the most recent Kit Kittredge: An American Girl which opened on July 2, 2008.
With the American Girl Store opening soon, the Natick Collection is sure to bolster its presence as New England's most elegant, upscale shopping mall with 270 stores that includes Neiman Marcus and Nordstroms and the largest skylight in New England and plush seating to relax along the way. Hard to believe this mall once had just 38 stores in the 1970s!
To ensure shopping at a store that is actually open, we strongly recommend you visit the Natick Collection Web Site to get updates on when the new American Girl Store is specifically opening.
